Ok, but hear me out. My brain knows pretty well where everything is (as long as some idiot hasn’t moved it on me).

But I don’t organize beyond keeping series together because then when I go to look for something to read, it’s an adventure! I never know what’s going to jump out and scream READ ME!

I use to organize them more, but now I have stacks hidden around the house I don’t want the kid to touch and the shelves are a free for all 🤣

Not organized seems fine if the vast majority of your books are e-books. Those are organized. My three physical books, not so much.

But…ok, so how many books are we talking about? If they all fit on one shelf, sure: size, color, random—whatever, they’re easy to see. When you’ve got BOOKS, like, multiple shelves of books, books in almost every room, books books books…that you want to be able to find again? Come the f**k on.

I organize books the way Nanny Ogg organizes family photos. They are moved closer to or farther from the most desirable shelf locations based on whether they have pleased me.
