It is very likely that it did disintegrate I should stress, but I choose to believe that since Operation Plumbbob happened in May of 1957 and Sputnik launched in October of 1957 a borehole cover from Nevada reached space before the Russians and America actually won the space race AMERICA NUMBA ONE.
