God, NetEase Games sucks. Gutting(and eventually closing 3 months later) Ouka Studios the day after they successfully revived the Mana series with Visions Of Mana last year and now this.

I think it will be more like "The Fall of the Golden Age Of Hollywood" that started in the late 40s and lasted until the 60s . Necessitating things like massive restructurings and reorganizations, but not an actual crash per se.

The parallels are there. And in noticeable amounts too.

True, and I fully expect many more layoffs like this and some of the studios begin to really start hurting.

Honestly, I think the Japanese studios (particularly Nintendo) and indies will be the only ones to make it out relatively unscathed.

Considering Nintendo fired hundreds of playtesters for wanting to unionize AND swept sexual harrassment allegations under the rug AND put a guy in indentured servitude for life over piracy (all in 2023 alone), they better NOT fucking come out smelling like roses.

They are JUST as shitty as the other 2 and LESS consumer friendly to boot. They are just far better at PR and getting people(fans on social media especially) to forget, excuse, or handwave away the shitty things they do.

This is similar to the problems that I think are happening in the TV and especially animation industry.

Incompetent and overpaid execs cancel shows before they even have a chance to find an audience while they treat employees as disposable. It fucking sucks.
