The biggest failures of most leaders of the left (and I am politically leftwing) is a fatal inability to listen to critics, and be open to recognise and learn from its own errors of judgement

It's awful. This idea of purity and righteousness the left seems to have may well destroy it. Certainly, this gap in realisation it a big open goal for opportuning right wing parties.
