I have one of these bullies in my yard too, but he seems to like me okay. Probably because he (at some level) knows that I'm the one that makes him the fresh nectar he enjoys so much.

I didn’t know that they stuck around for snowy weather. I get them all year round, but live in a warmer weather.

I had a fiercely defensive little guy last year when I was on the 3rd floor of my building who would hang out in nearby trees to guard the feeder. But when we had a massive cold front coming in, he let everyone fill up as the temps dropped and it got colder and colder, they took turns.

My friend and I kept the spouts thawed out all day as the different guys and gals came and fueled up and it got down to the teens by dark.

I moved up to the 9th floor and my defensive guy didn't follow, and out of the flock I have now, most of them started out young, no one yet has won dominance.
