Last I heard they can get it but are largely asymptomatic. Whether or not they can be carriers and pass it back to humans is I think also a possibility but not well studied? That’s without going to research though 😂
No one’s doing the research, but the big cats earlier on in this pandemic had a hard time. Anecdotally, there have been cats developing long term symptoms like kidney and cardiac (at younger ages) after their human gets Covid. There’s a vet tech on twitter who talks about it.
I worry about it all the time… But yes if it’s Covid, they can get it, so best to mask around them, add hepa filters, and try as best you can to isolate (so hard to do around cats).
My favorite mask retort that I've heard for stuff like "why are you wearing that?" is this one:
"IT HELPS ME MIND MY OWN BUSINESS."
Pls use this and tailor it to your current a$$hole takedown needs.

Absolutely. If I'm asked to mask up I don't hesitate. You don't know why someone does what they do. Vaccinated or not you can still catch it. Are they immunocompromised or maybe a family member. Maybe they have kids. Or they just don't want to get sick. Don't mock them.
