Sad but unsurprising that the media isn't interested in stories of peaceful, regular American citizens on the left, only in characterizing them as violent vandals. Heartfelt stories about peaceful Americans are reserved for MAGA. Topsy-Turvy land.

I haven't seen many heartfelt, peaceful stories at all lately. Corporate media runs what brings in advertising dollars---sorry, I meant "viewers." That typically means getting some kind of rise out of them: scaring them, making them angry, etc. "Violent vandal" stories do both simultaneously.
More symptomatic of a class issue. The left-right ideology just gives them a nice way to frame it for the MAGAts. Which I find somewhat amusing, since I think the average MAGA wouldn’t touch the WAPO with a 30ft pole.
or just ignoring them completely. people in other countries think there is no protest or backlash happening because it isnt violent and since it isnt violent its not reported on.
They say to publish "man bites dog" stories, because everyone knows that the inverse is more common, so a man biting a dog is interesting. When all you read is stories of men biting dogs, however, your perception of probability becomes skewed, and you start to assume dogs biting men is rarer.
Of course it is reverse psychology. See this isn't bad, what you thought and saw before with your own eyes was wrong. What we are telling you now is right. Only believe what we tell you and you will be fine. Then people don't have to worry about making their decisions.
Free press just works different if it’s owned/run by people who are either cowards or have happily shifted their calibration of what’s fair/decent.
Rooting for you America.

It's been this way for so long and I honestly believe is one of the reasons why it's so hard to get any real, meaningful change, anywhere in the world where neo-liberal media is dominant.
Even in Australia 'Our' ABC (ostensibly neutral state funded public broadcaster) has been gradually overtaken.
Our local news showed up at the end of the protest yesterday, snapped a pic of 3 people leaving (out of the 50+ people there), didn't mention the actual number of people, and wrote a single paragraph about the event, giving credit to the Tuesday group. 🙄
If anyone wants to write a follow-up article on a trans mom of two, where the three of us moved from Florida to Pittsburgh to escape the trans-hatred - I'm available!
I understand why they support a man whose morals & actions align perfectly with theirs. Being like him excites them & makes them feel significant in a world they can't understand. It's much easier when someone else thinks for them & decides where they stand rather than trying to educate themselves.
The media only pays attention when crazy things happen because that’s what gets attention and in turn makes them money. MAGA gets so much attention because their supreme agnorance means they’re always willing to do or say something ridiculous
Keep doing what you're doing and just remember that when there's a choice to be made that the NY Times always sides with the wealthy, regardless of ideology.
This is why we must post and show peaceful protests whenever we attend. The media is intentionally avoiding reporting this in fear of angering their billionaire and public company overlords.
And they did the same in 2020. There were hundreds of protests happening around the country every day but even the more “liberal” news just kept showing the same clips of windows being broken or fires being started over and over again. It’s psychological warfare.
There was a protest in my town yesterday. Trumpers showed up to harass and intimidate. Our local paper ran it as "a handful of Trump supporters joined the protesters", as if they were there peacefully.
that all said i really am smh at the @apnews.com journos who could approach you abt the #teslaTakedown work and haven't. like what, they really want @teenvogue.com to beat them to it? ok i guess
its part of the problem that all the press these days is funded by the people who are facilitating this. like i can't trust npr to tell it to me straight, the times is full on transphobic, what DOESNT bezos own? the ink that prints their stories is paid for with blood n lies

That's why all of the peaceful protests that have been happening at capitols have been wholly ignored by mainstream media.
Either way, unlikely to stop protests as we are heading into the warmer months. Protests will be plentiful.
