Where I work the nurse would get a write up because naturally the fault had to be on the nurse. They would say he approached the patient incorrectly.

Very sad. I'm also concerned about why he wasn't taken to a psychiatric hospital equipped to handle this. Sounds like Paranoid schizophrenia. Most always violent expressions in the schizophrenias.

How do you possibly overcome a trauma like that? My heart is breaking for her, her family and her
coworkers. Did you read in the article that we (nurses) have come to expect that at some point in our careers, we’ll face violence in the workplace? I wish I could afford to retire early.

It IS traumatic. It's a violent crime with life-changing injuries. As you know/ I know, a psych patient can decompensate quickly. It's swift and scary.

This will be a long road for her. Very sad.

I read an update on Reddit, and she died of her injuries. No press update because they are reaching family, but the sherriff’s office released that this guy was charged with a homicide.

Actually, hope here! After checking your articles I looked at the Palm Beach Post and found that she has survived, albeit with terrible injuries. I guess it was touch and go for awhile? Hope she recovers

I did read that. I always loved nurses. Always. You are what keep everything together. You know everything. I remind my nurse friends always how much they mean to me & others. You all also face the most abuse and are truly on the front lines/in the trenches dealing with the mess. 1/

I've worked with/consulted with nurses throughout my career. THEY would really know what's up w/my pt/client.

My questions surround him being left there and which put everybody at risk! I read it wasn't one of the psyh-hold hospitals!!

I mean why wasn't he, at least, in a 4pt restraint?
