Don't take internet opinions for granted lol. Consider them a vocal minority. Each new game broke the previous one's sales record. Just play the games, take your time, try to understand the mechanics with an open mind and everything might just click. That's how it was for me
Honestly if ppl just use all the tools that the game provides and doesn’t fall into the “big sword hit hard” builds then the game is really manageable.
I played the DS trilogy, but haven't touched ER yet. Even following this advice it's rather difficult, but they're not impossible games like their exaggerated reputation is. They're just good video games.
I actually have a harder time getting through the original Demon's Souls than DS2.
I think you’ll find ER a much more forgiving experience but it really is all about how you play the game. There’s a community born from ER that has a “get gud” mentality but honestly that game is much easier imo than any DS
I think the main ER trap was that it did just get popular, and it attracted the wrong crowd. Something people go into games is "oh, level up = stronger". In Soulsborne it can almost be skipped, making weapon style and weapon upgrades a bigger difference than what they expect.
this is just a flawed take here. souls game are designed to be difficult, it's part of their very identity. not every game appeals to everyone. if you want to play but want it to be easier, you are fundamentally misunderstanding the appeal and the genre simply isn't for you (and that's fine!!!!!!!!)
