It’s PTO. You gotta set boundaries and just not respond to work stuff while on vacation. If you don’t set boundaries, unscrupulous employers like this will just take advantage of you >.>
i love Tech i love that we've established this as acceptable behavior. one of my fellows moved back to France to work at a game studio there and he cited stuff like this as part of why, he can fuck off on vacation and actually stay away 😭
Just because you have at will employment doesn’t mean you don’t have federal labor rights. If vacation is in your employee contract then “breach of contract” also firing you for not working on vacation could be considered retaliation.

I see this most at places with “unlimited” PTO where it’s not actually tracked as a liability.
