BBC’s Clive Myrie: “They became Ukrainian weapons in 1991 after Kyiv voted to leave the Soviet Union when it became a sovereign independent state. It gave those weapons up after security guarantees were promised by the US and Russia.Guarantees that ended up meaning nothing.”
