Hopefully. But, the GitHub repository is down now, which means forking from there is no longer an option. Someone may have saved the code, but the whole project might a poisoned well now.

Most certainly, it's just gonna come down to trust with the devs left on that project. And yeah, I wish they were, too. On the plus side, though, they are working to replicate the entire 3DS experience (and having success), and I see that as a win.

I have never once heard of Citra and heard plenty about 3DS hacking.

I think the supposedly huge loss of Citra is overstated immensely.

The loss is more for long-term 3DS preservation. Citra was the big leader in 3DS emulation. While 3DS hacking is pretty prolific, it doesn't necessarily have to be the only way to experience these games, especially later in the future, when 3DS units become rarer and difficult to find.

As such, emulation has always been something that is very needed for the 3DS. This is why we also have emulation for other devices, such as the NES and PlayStation 1. Hacking is one method, but those devices won't be around forever.

Since when was Citra anything before a week ago? Project 64 is Prolific, Citra was a blip on the recent radar of finally taking down Yuzu at most.

Citra was a bit of a blip, yes. That's because it was fairly abandoned. Many of Citra's devs went to Yuzu. However, it was still one of the few ways to emulate the 3DS on PC and other devices. Now, we have to wait until the next emulator is available. Mikage looks good, but isn't available right now

Most are not to the point where Citra was, with wildly fluctuating compatibility rates, or they have very limited platforms that they work on. Or they are still in active development. Some haven't had updates in years. 3DS emulation is nowhere near where it needs to be.
