Pretty decent State of Play all around, IMO. I just wish some of these games would learn from classics like Shinobi (and Astro Bot!) and not try so hard to be edgy and badass. Just focus on being fun, man.
it doesnt help that most of what we see is either "angry guy shoots other guys" or "watered down ARPG that lacks its own identity". we once in a while get something that was allowed to stand out and be unique amongst it's peers.
I'm interested in some of those games, sure. But I know damn well I'll forget all about them a month from now and will need to be reminded they exist when the time comes.
Not Onimusha and Shinobi though. So glad we're getting more. The facial animations in Onimusha were fantastic.
I just kept thinking "all these new games look like the same generic stuff" and was really let down. Of course the outliers were the already established franchises.
Tides Of Annihilation looks cool and it's nice to finally see a release of Lost Souls Aside. But aside from that and Shinobi and Onimusha nothing really grabbed me either. Maybe The Midnight Walk, at least the artstyle.
It was alright. Probably too much stuff that we already knew about like Onimusha etc. New Housemarque game and that Lost Soul thing looks cool as well as Shinobi and a few other smaller games.
I think I hit a point where I just said, maybe I'm just getting too old for games. Nothing was exciting me personally and the only stuff I would have liked to see are either never going to happen, or are so few that I likely won't see them this early or at all this year.
Shinobi is confirmed to be made by Lizardcube, the company behind Streets of Rage 4 and the Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap remake... therefore, Shinobi is absolutely in good hands!
The idea of Saros is cool since Returnal was awesome and I suspect the same will be true here, but yeah, the Onimusha and Shinobi stuff is what I found really cool.

That, Onimusha, and Digimon were probably the top three for me from this direct.
Still put on my clown makeup every time for Viewtiful Joe HD to exist for over a decade now π₯
Excuse me, I think I need to do a YouTube searchβ¦
Oh wait. ;)

Yeah, I thought that looked cool, too. Hell if I can remember what the game's called though.
Also, I don't know if it's just me, but a few of the game titles they showed off felt kinda "drawn at random from a hat," for lack of a better term.
