As a Brit, it's depressing just how well that film continues to accurately capture what the UK's like (from what I recall, Cuarón and his fellow screenplay writers just looked at the UK in 2005 and extrapolated from there, which was bang on the money).

I taught this in a class about a year ago. It was the first time I’d watched it since I first got the DVD, and I was floored at how relevant it’s become.
