on a technical level, bsky differs from twitter a lot under the hood; the easiest implementation atm would make em public info (similar to how likes are technically public even if profiles hide the tab—likes can’t be private or posts wouldnt be able to show like counts) & the devs want to avoid this
That makes sense. As I understand it, the website basically functions where everything is a unique website domain. So technically, everything is visible.
Twitter had years to add features. This is still fairly new. Switching to this app is currently a matter of principle and to some a form of protest against or boycott of twitter.

You can enable them automatically through the "External Media Preferences" on the Settings.
As for bookmarks, there's a temp solution for now:
