I grew up in a house where there wasn’t always “lunch”
food and I went “home for lunch” so no one would know we didn’t have muesli bars or little bags of chips or fruit or sometimes not bread for marmite sandwiches. I don’t imagine the shame of that has changed in the last 40 years.

Just bloody feed kids. If a few kids get it that don't 'need' it, so bloody what? Just. Feed. Kids.
I hate all the privileged wankers who want the at-risk kids to be segregated into a 'poor kids' line at meal times....
No stigma in that - yeah right....
Hardly had money each day for food used to get free school meals but my school was clever they used to stagger our lunch times so when my class got to go, there was hardly anything left.
And my clothes were 10 years out of date and second hand.
