I use Proton VPN for this very reason. They don’t log and being they are based in Switzerland it is illegal by Swiss Law for them to sell user data or share user data. Foreign governments can’t pressure them to turnover user data as it only answer to the Swiss government.

For browsing in your native language it's probably better to use Duck Duck Go that has robust privacy and ad tracking built in useto the settings. DDG pro has a strict no logging policy and VPN but is based in the U.S.
I used to use Nord VPN since it was responsive to changes in China's firewall

Seems academic yet If traveling or living in an environment where the internet is restricted or suspect then be sure to install before you get there. It's not a bad idea to ditch Chrome unless you need the built in translator.

Paid version just gives you more server location options than the free version. Also paid version has peer 2 peer, streaming, tor over vpn, and double vpn servers. Well woth the cost depending on your needs.

I told my hubs after T was inaugurated, we aren't leaving the country for any overseas trips. In the last month, we're now considering not even leaving our state (reliably blue). I haven't been to a protest, partly due to ICE patrols. Both my hubs and I are multigen (born in the U.S. citizens).
