That seething anger you get from Johnson isn't just against the Tories who unseated him. It's an awareness of historical judgement. They've so little to show for all their nonsense.

I think you'll find that if you look at the retail sector in the North East on Tuesdays, when it's raining, we're actually outperforming most of the G7 (before accounting for currency fluctuations)
But anyone who thinks Badenock or Jendrick are going to get back all those seats lost to the Lib Dems are already walking around singing Nigel Farage songs
I agree with you totally, but rather than making any rapprochement in order to repair relations, Starmer seems to be entrenching himself still further.
SM/CU is very doable, won't take too long, and would be welcomed by the EU as it brings massive benefits to them.
And don't forget that B-word is only 60-70% implemented and we've still got most of the consumer economy impacts to come - SM/CU fixes most of this
Johnson is a man who measures legacy in statues and triumphal arches rather than actual achievements. He doesn't care whether it worked or not. He does care if he can spin it so that a grateful nation will build monuments in his honour.

Just not stuff they want to recognise
Take my wife - voted Conservative since she could vote, voted for Brexit
Now?
Has voted Lib Dem last election and considered voting for Labour, thinks Brexit is really bad now and regrets it massively
Now that is a legacy!
Conservatives at their lowest seat total for decades (might be forever)
Brexit disapproval ratings continue to climb
What was promised hasn't been delivered, and everyone (including Brexiteers) knows that

Unfortunately you can't just get back in
We are talking a generation before we can even consider it
Course, all the moves that recognise that the EU is both our biggest ally and trading partner are a great start
