„Dennoch besteht im Osten weiterhin eine stärkere Präferenz für die AfD als in den anderen Landesteilen. Der verbleibende Unterschied kann als Differenz kulturell geprägter Werte interpretiert werden, aufgrund derer aktuelle Ereignisse, wie der Ukrainekrieg und die Migration, verschieden (…)”
but he WON in eastern DE..! a joke, not elon: putin won there he has so many agents there, I wonder why no pro-RU insurrections didn't occur there.. probably those guys are bidding time for RU military assault on GER when putin is ready for it...
I have relatives in the east who live in a state with AfD majority. All they do is complain about how terrible everything is now. Whinge whinge whinge. Any solution is terrible, just complain. No wonder they are stupid enough to vote for the party that bitches without offering any ideas.
Both this link and the map show the results of the last EU election and have nothing to do with todays election. The post by @noelreports.com is a fake.
The total number of voting districts is 299 today, by the way.
This could be due to reports of exit polling. Regardless, it's too early to use this type of data, which can change as more votes come in. It could also turn out to be completely accurate, which wouldn't be too surprising.
I read an article in the Dutch newspaper NRC where they remark on this: apparently, the border with the DDR already shows up in censuses from before the DDR existed. (I didn’t make a typo there!) I’ll search for the article.
It's in the east, and it is there, like in the US rust belt and the industrial North in the UK, where traditional unionised, left voters have moved to the empty promises of right wing populism. When you disenfranchise the people you say you support, don't be surprised when they turn their back on you
east germany wasn’t a traditional unionised industrial region, it was a dictatorial state, vasall to the soviet union. before that, it was a nazi stronghold. thuringia was the first german state with a nazi government.
Right across the east there existed great factories that are now monuments to the industrial revolution. Latterly, Magdeburg was a key economic and industrial part of the GDR and there are many such towns and cities, where my friends are from, there is a huge derelict Singer factory for example.
Yes, I was merely reflecting on my own experiences of the East when I lived there. Especially where my friends live, small towns and larger cities where the main employment has gone and left a sort of social decay much like that seen in the industrial heartlands of northern England.
Thanks to fate Donald Tusk won the last election, because the previous Polish prime minister is the president of the European political party Giorgia Meloni belongs to. I guess that doesn't qualify as Nazi shit.
The map describes the high level of manufactured resentment of the former Soviet-influenced population against the elitists in the West. On one level, the left has done this to itself and on another there is a certain susceptibility to the disinformation and propaganda coming from Russia.
Elon did distressingly well. The AfD was never going to win the whole election, but it did shockingly well for a far-right party. Musk will be extremely pleased by this, sadly (if he's still paying attention).
He has donated a lot of money to AfD, promoted them on X, spoken at their rallies and, I assume, tweaked the algorithms for X to promote AfD. Same for other very right wing/facist parties in Europe.
In any case, your map only illustrates what a disaster the Soviet experiment was on the German people, that 35 years later, the GDR is still lagging behind the rest of Germany economically and still more prone to ruzzian disinformation and influence operations like the AfD.
I am not a ML, I am not here to talk about bygone system but the material conditions that lead to a loss in faith of the status quo. It’s not just eastern Germany voting for the right so you people’s “it was ruzzia” is just silly.
What the hell do you mean? AfD slightly outperformed their polling. Whether that's down to Elon or not, they did distressingly well. They'll end up with more than a fifth of the seats in parliament. They'll be able to slow everything down, unless that is the CDU straight up forms a coalition with em
Noting the East v. West split. So, this is probably the same dynamic that prevented ruzzia from embracing democracy. The folks were so used to the strict order of soviet dominance that they want it back.
Why germany's intelligence services fail to root out russian influence in eastern germany? Either they are underfunded, underskilled, or overpaid in rubles.
Can we please form the GDR Oblast and hand it over to pootin in exchange for, say, Crimea (to be donated to Ukraine ofc)?
But with a permanent land corridor to our beloved Berliningrad.

main point – it wasn’t a “traditional unionised” region as you claimed

Later in election, same thing, 20%. Many afd voters didn't like seeing their party cozy up with an american (who they don't really like).
he has been campaigning for the AfD for weeks but it seems nobody listened to him

He has not won yet, but is clearly on the move.

That would be nice, aye?
