If you haven’t played the remake you should. It has a lot of difficulty options to make the game as easy or hard as you like and adds a bit extra to the end. Sadly the extra boss is easier than the actual last boss but that boss was a bitch so it’s forgivable!

Like, holy shit. FE4 wouldn't be out for 2 more years and I'm told it handles generational stuff worse(? Fe fans know seisen opinions are always radicalized lmao), phantasy star 3 handled this infamously terribly and even more recent games can struggle. Or are just outright roguelikes. /SHRUG

The way you pick out an heir to the kingdom after dying or having enough time (events) progress, choose a new class, have your skills carry over, pick out new generations of party members from the available classes as you go is simply nuts in how effective it is.

General difficulty scaling is, from what I can tell, based off of a total battles fought and total tech points accumulated value. The more you grind for semi random HP ups, the stronger enemies will get, with a shocking amount of new sprite assets and formations to go with them.

I'm not gonna lie, I know for a FACT this system can backfire and screw you over if you grind too much and don't understand what the game wants you to do, which is partially where my RS3 experience came in - I knew enemies could outpace you if you grind for sparks too much, oopsie.

I feel like the game does a good job (and better than RS3) with preventing it however, with more/better classes being unlocked as you explore the world and the stats/skills/usefulness generally reflecting it and ensuring future parties will always be stronger.
