I've been seeing a lot of surprise / anger that Extreme Gear in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is gonna control like the other vehicles, and like, I'm admittedly a bit baffled by this. Yeah, like I had a feeling it was gonna be like that the moment they were on screen. People were setting themselves up for disappointment assuming they would make a whole new gameplay style just for a single vehicle type.

If the extreme gear controlled like it did in Sonic Riders. I image that would turn a lot of people away from CrossWorlds if they have to adapt to a very complex control scheme in the middle of a race.

Yeah, it'd be really jarring for those not already familiar with Riders (which given it's almost 20 years old and never got a re-release, would be most players).

Same. Like, it's been 19 years since the original Riders, so of course new gameplay of it won't play the same as it did in 2006.

Also, it is meant to be more accessible since the big criticism the original Riders faced was its steep learning curve.

It's also important to at least wait until we get our hands on the game (another beta or the launch) to see how it feels. It could be strong in its own right even if it's not as mechanical as it was.

I mean, I’m just excited to see Crossworlds be the first Sonic game probably ever to use UE5 instead of an engine only the people who work or used to work at the dev studio know enough about to mod stuff.

Honestly, I totally get it. I remember talking with some friends in a VC back when CrossWorlds got its gameplay trailer. We are hyped af, but we also wondered how tf the combination of the gameplay styles from both All-Stars Racing and Riders would even work.

The tracks in the Riders trilogy were clearly made for the Extreme Gears, differentiating track designs from most other kart racers. So it makes me wonder how the Extreme Gears would work in CrossWorlds.

I saw someone on the hell site complaining that they took humans out of the Windmill Isle track and that "nothing will ever look as good as Sonic Unleashed".

Just further proof that nobody hates Sonic more than Sonic fans. (I am thankfully NOT one of THOSE idiots.)
