The only case I can make for trailing slashes is that by using it your subdirectory's main page would be included in a GSC property while the alternative is not 😭
My brain's history as a web dev sees a trailing slash as a directory, so from that perspective it makes sense for folders with files in them to have a trailing slash.

Yeah that's how I see it too but have you seen any sites that do force a slash on a directory main but not with pages within? Like /blog/ but then would not have it one /blog/article-name ... Seems like it'd be hard to do especially with any server rewrites to force the appropriate version
I work on a few sites that do it, so I'm guessing it's the platform default, as they've always been like that. It's also straightforward if you know regex (I don't apart from a few basics).
