It really underscores the efficacy of protesting in a way that interferes with businesses, because the cops and the businesses are now in a Catch 22. The cops have to be there or the protestors will set up their picket line there, but the cops being there is its own unintentional picket line.

Far right groups have used similar tactics against LGBT+ bars and other minority businesses for ages, but I think these Tesla protests are much, much more effective because while the local gay punks might show up with bats to defend their favorite bar, who the hell cares about Tesla that much?

i guess what i'm saying is that this would be a prime opportunity to set up small protests at the retailers to keep these oversaturated forces occupied while your main force set up a much larger protest elsewhere, forcing the police to have to choose between crushing the protest or protect tesla.

the idea is to give them a no-win scenario where abandoning the stores to corral the main protest means you can more easily do what you want at said stores, whereas maintaining their tesla barriers means the main protest can set up their own barricades and/or start encampment.

All this to say: the police have made a really fukken dumb move for no good reason, which leaves them vulnerable for a really simple tactical exploit. A show of strength that can only backfire.
