I’m so sorry. My parents’ house burned down. They tried everything to get rid of the smoke in some treasured books and papers. Nothing worked. Fire is lasting grief. I wish you the best.

It will be years before their house loses that smell, if ever. And for even more years, every time they smell the slightest smoke in the air, even from friendly fireplaces and BBQs, they will instantly go on high alert.😢

I have survived 2 apartment fires (my irresponsible next door neighbors) & there is no way anyone is going to live in the homes that survived the fires because of the smoke and soot damage. The smell is pervasive and the walls will need to be entirely gutted.

I am so sorry for your loss.
