Sad to hear that, and that the choice of a app would be the judging factor for ones credibility or how connected one is. I still use it for art / entertainment / inspiration. As a creative iv built quite a large following there, and building that audience took a lot of time and work :(

So why are people not speaking out? Where are all the “thought leaders” who will go on cnn to bash TikTok or spread lies about how deepfakes will end us all? CISA, NCSC, all of them need to get off it and be very clear. But they are addicted to the damn likes and attention like kids at a party

Two words: federal procurement. They have contracted social media teams and the contracts specify Xtter. They have to change the terms of the contract.

I get all this but as a SECTOR there aren’t people who are actively pushing for ethics and that says a lot, proves a lot. The orgs that have moved have done so due to PR or comms advice. Not cyber advice. Which is why cyber sits at the kiddie table

It is so hard to try to work with schools or other institutions when the government agencies that they are trained to respect won’t set the example. I can say Twitter and Facebook are adtech and harmful but if the NCSC etc set an example, maybe folk would listen. Cyber is a scam tbh

Sadly the ICO is doing too many TikTok videos and booking flights to care and the NCSC and cyber council have their little sponsor paid conferences to organise so I guess they are busy
