More possession too. I’m glad we can feel somewhat proud of the effort tonight. Loser talk I know, but I honestly feared the worst. And that first, what, 20 mins, was some of the best we’ve played. It all feels so close but so far too. Onwards we go. Come On You Gunners.
Technically they finished with an xG of: 3.1415926535 8979323846264338327950288419716939937510582097494459230781640628620899862803482534211706798214808651 32823066470938446095505822317253594081284811174502
Blame the manager he chose not to sign a striker. We played like Stoke City playing for Long Throws. 5 years without a trophy is a disgrace for a club that's likes to call itself a big club. Everyone went mental when we beat a very poor Madrid team.Over both legs PSG deseved it
Their xG was 2.9 over the two games including a dodgy penalty and they scored 3 goals. Ours was 4.9 and we only scored 1. Has anyone ever mentioned we could do with a striker?
What's the PSxG? You love to just slag off Arsenal, but Donarumma stood on his head both ties. That was the difference, not some mythical striker we didn't sign in January
I don't disagree that we need a new striker. That's a different argument than why we didn't go through in the tie. Our shots, and their accuracy, normally would've led to more than 1 goal across 180 minutes and that was the difference
It's a CL semi & the Arsenal bench has kids yet to play in the PL & players back from injury yet to get match minutes.
Our squad lacks the depth & variety to survive 4 competitions (+E&WC) & 100 minute games. We're overstretched, tired, jaded & injury prone.
Arsenal created and took chances in ways that 95% of the time end up as goals. We ran into what will likely be the best gk in Europe this season in the form of his life.
In March, Kroenke Sports Enterprises had no issue dishing out:
$26m in guaranteed money to Davante Adams; and
$40m in guaranteed money to Matthew Stafford

However, finding equivalent funds for a striker like Ollie Watkins in January seemed like a bridge too far.

Fine margins at this level, you have to make it count.
Arteta and Berta have their work cut out for them this summer.
But ultimately their GK was the difference.
Maybe a better striker beats him in this game though.

(& we still put up a good fight!)

Ownership needed to support him in January with a striker.
Investment back then would have been offset by incoming prize money at home and in Europe.

While you're here, Watkins has 15 goals in the league this season. Havertz is still Arsenal's top scorer with 9...
Watkins name was an example. Take your pick of any attainable striker - Isak, Sesko, Gyokeres.
