Reports that Schumer told his caucus that the GOP do not have the Senate votes to pass the House CR. Senator Whitehouse says he'll be speaking about it shortly on the Senate floor. Suggests the House CR is dead, with Senate Dems focusing on a 30 day short-term CR.

I had already called my two senators' and Sen. Schumer's offices and left messages this morning, urging a No on the CR vote. Then I read about the cloture issue, and so called them all again, urging No votes on cloture and the CR. I've also been calling Leader Thune and Speaker Johnson recently.

Does anyone think democrat candidates for gop seats should start running now? Campaigning on these issues early?

Seems they need to play to win at all levels, and they need a stronger opposition leader than Nancy pelosi picked when she gate kept AOC and had a frail old guy I haven’t seen.
