This is an absolute crock of shit from state Sen. Bryan Hughes. He's the guy who wrote the bounty hunter abortion ban that nullified Roe v. Wade in Texas in 2021

And his Dear Leader and the Oligarchs sitting at the top table - er, in the administration - have just gutted environmental protection for water, air and food. So claims of environmentalist justifications rings a little hollow.
Totally off topic but every time I see that photo (which is at least once a week) it makes be sad because it was taken about a month before we had to stop doing abortions)
wow: "FILE - Boxes of the drug mifepristone sit on a shelf at the West Alabama Women's Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on March 16, 2022. (AP Photo/Allen G. Breed, File)(Allen G. Breed / ASSOCIATED PRESS)"
Wyoming has a similar bill - HB0159. We're going to see many more of these pop up, all framed as "environmental protection acts". Makes sense, given our fervent attention and commitment to eradicating lead in the water across the country... Oh, wait.
I wrote about how these water-related bills are part of a larger strategy to attack healthcare under a 2007 Supreme Court precedent called Gonzalez v. Carhart:
Specifically, Students for Life believes it can use that 2007 case—which weakened Roe by upholding a federal ban on a specific abortion method—in order to gut constitutional amendments protecting abortion. (ty again to @dceiver.bsky.social @newrepublic.com for running this story)
