The main way gender affects candidates is that women jump into races with higher skill and experience levels compared to baseline, because they have to work harder to perform equivalently.

Who knows, there could easily be a relationship unique to the presidency. Maybe it's amplified in race and gender COMBINED - given that Harris was in all likelihood a better and more charismatic candidate than Hillary Clinton, but lost by a greater margin.
