It varies state by state where I am from. Online gambling was banned. In my state you had to physically go to the casinos on the reservations to gamble. In a way I see that as the beginning of compensation.

Cigarette advertising was all the rage at one time until it become a public health issue. Gambling will go the same way when it becomes a rampant social issue. In the meantime gambling businesses are making hay while they still can.

Having had multiple friends working in online casinos as hosts, the whole thing is deeply unethical and soul destroying for those employed. A good proportion of it is the attitude of those who engage with these platforms.
