the thing about being openly gay is you had to come out of the proverbial closet to be open about it. I don't know about any christians in the closet. well not in the christian closet anyway lol

There are more recent examples in the west of times where hiding your Christianity type from other Christians has been a thing. I think it was usually the Catholics hiding from the Protestants. "Crypto Catholic" used to mean something other than somebody who wants to tell you all about his Bitcoin.
