This is cynical gaslighting and caving to the pressure from the fossil fuel lobby. It gives permission to continue with fossil fuels and delays real progress on transition to renewables. The fact that they are using taxpayers money from “GB energy” for carbon capture is disheartening.

The solution is to stop burning fossil fuels. Nature has done carbon capture and storage for us for free - if we leave the oil, gas and coal in the ground.

For hard to decarbonise sectors like steel, the answer is renewables and hydrogen
