She is. I've never been a fan of hers - at least, I've been fairly indifferent to her. But I heard her doing a couple of 'sensitive' interviews on R5 Live a few yrs ago & she was excellent. One was a fairly small but emotional story and her interviewing style was gentle, appropriate but thorough.
Shoved or jumped? Weird to think the BBC would rate Barnett a better journalist and/or broadcaster (She demonstrably is not!)
Money? Perhaps. Either way, boneheaded management. Again.
Never really heard her on Today. I remember her on tv news where she always came across as detached, bland and almost AI. I assume radio is her medium.
I guess with where the world is at at the moment, that's not a bad place to be. For the next five or so years, the world of business will be exciting and interesting.
Yes a huge loss and if it means more Emma Barnett on the Today programme, shit we're really stuffed. The dreadful thing is, there's nothing other than the Today programme to listen to in the mornings.
He is only 1-2pm Mon-Thurs. He is off for a few weeks now. Just started listening to it but have it on all the time. Use to have LBC and Nick Ferrari on from 7-10am.
#mishalhusain is the highest calibre journalist at the bbc. she should have had the #sundaypolitics job or any role within the bbc she desired. god I'm really going to miss her
Begs the question of why the BBC could not retain her services. There has now been an avoidable exodus of top-rate current affairs presenters and journalists. Why?
Brain Drain happening at BBC. Inky listen to BBC Today when Mishal & Justin are a double act, the others like their own voices too much, or dropping in an ad for podcast!! Her book is amazing
A Massive loss indeed. I was lucky enough to speak to her at Hay Festival this year.
Her main advice to the audience at Saturday Live was to write names on the back of old (or any) family photos ASAP. 👍
They are losing all the good ones. Haven’t watched the Beeb in wuite a while. We missed an opportunity metaphorically on Nov 5th. It’s past time to start again @LisaNandy
Everyone who is any good is leaving/has left the BBC. It’s very sad but when you have the right in charge limiting what can and can’t be said and setting an agenda the very best don’t want to work in those conditions.
Nihal Arthanayake's popular Afternoon show already replaced on @BBC5Live by Fox Murdoch Times' reject Matt Chorley. Now Mishal moves from @BBCRadio4. Pure coincidence, I'm sure!
My point was how the Trumpie Corporate media was taking over the BBC. Long colonised by the Tories, it's now shifting again to the Farragists and more critical journalists, eg, Mishal Husain and Arthanayka have left or been shunted to late night shows.
Opportunity to rebalance the private school / Oxbridge dominance, and get some journalists who research their topics in some depth, rather than just being 'interviewers' and gossip-sharers. We need more analysis and questions based on reigour, not just over-confident broadcasting voices.
Be good to see the opportunity go to a ‘state school educated person’ (94% of nation) rather than individuals such as Mishal who believe in perpetuating privilege. Good opportunity for the BBC.
She is the best broadcaster on BBCR4Today prog by a country mile. A massive loss of another quality journalist. BBC politics and current affairs v much on a downward trajectory.

All of the best talent are leaving the #BBC
Is the BBC political wing totally taken over by the Right now ?
Money? Perhaps. Either way, boneheaded management. Again.
Oh.
A huge hole at the centre of BBC current affairs
Really the only heavy weight on R4 Today
Always feels like the blokes just busk it, don't listen to the answers, don't dig down
The BBC is finished as a trustworthy pursuant of truth and accountability.
Her main advice to the audience at Saturday Live was to write names on the back of old (or any) family photos ASAP. 👍
Give her Robinson and Webb's salaries - maybe she'd change her mind.
Isn't it time they were weeding out a few reffukers from the big desks at bbc news?
at too high a salary.
