This was all predicted and predictable. British business have been screaming about it into the void for years. Politicians just haven’t wanted to listen.

My dad used to send a package for my children every year from Belgium with chocolates and gifts for Sint Nicolas and their birthdays. Doesn't do it anymore because shipping is more than the cost of the content. #Brexitwin
Same for us, we used to get a lot of Dutch food not just for Sinterklaas but year round too. Now not only does it take weeks rather than days to arrive, the delivery charge is more than double the cost of the contents. And it sits for literally weeks at UK customs.
Come on. Half the voters voted fuck this let’s smash something up and the people who didn’t vote are complicit in their complacency. Let’s not pretend there are only 10% foreigner hating racist little Englanders.
I'm talking about the people who were the most vocal in pushing for Brexit and continue to portray any attempts to build closer relations with the EU as a betrayal of ' the will of the people'. 10% was a massive exaggerating, we're really talking about a handful of Farage types and r wing media
Politicians have no morality, are fearful of the truth, & constantly want to appease.
Labour have appeased Netanyahu and Trump rather than stand up to them. And they continue to appease brexiteers, rather than do the right thing & have a proper trading arrangement with the EU.
Get your namesake Howard on, who is fearless (as you know) when it comes to this. Plus he'll do you an arrangement of the 'coming out of the ads after the news' music.
The appalling thing is even quite apolitical people could see it was not going to work. I was almost in shock about the levels of ignorance and denial of some politicians after 2016. Before that I believed on the whole they knew what they were doing, even if I did not agree.
They haven’t been screaming. Biz under Tory govs refused to say Brexit couldn’t work. A bit braver under Labour. Clarkson straw in wind. Biz generally has its views on EU shaped by DTel/Mail. Has BBC/C4News/Sky made any public protest on carnet prob written to MPs?
You say politicians don’t want to listen. Maybe it’s because the media let the architects of Brexit get away Scott free.
Farage is front and centre on every news channel and is never held to account over it. He’s actually spun it so well his party are ahead in a lot of polls.
All UK passport holders should be banned from entering the EU. The country under „Genocide Starmer“ has provided 47% of all genocidal „surveillance“ flights above Gaza, is a Trump slave, and hence an EU enemy. Time for the UK to be divided into its true parts
Depressingly, I see a pathway to just that through the angle of Eurocentric xenophobia & race replacement conspiracy. Particularly if far-right nationalist politics continue to ascend across the more dominant EU member states. No doubt they'd have no qualms being a part of "that" project.
Tbh many of us have said that for some time. It’s almost inevitable when you have the likes of Fartage admitting it isn’t quite what he hoped (paraphrased!). If this Labour Govt don’t open eyes & ears to a closer EU/eventual rejoin, & the above does happen in large measure, then they’re toast.
Me too, I have always believed the Labour party will be too scared of the RW media. I would not be in the least bit surprised if Johnson joined the bandwagon.
We've finally found *one* Brexit benefit - it's made Clarkson want to sit in the gutter and weep.
Not sure if that makes up for all the other bollox though.
That's not feasible right now. What we should be doing is talking about the economy and how a closer relationship is much better for everyone's income. Stuff like that. Ignore rejoining and focus on incremental steps.
Why fight for gains of longer queues, friction at the border for goods, friction to go work abroad, and isolation with a US that has started trade wars with weaker states?
Relative, a musician living N. Ireland, took guitar etc. and drove Rosslare for ferry to Cherbourg rather than travel through England. No checks, smooth crossing.

He’s still a useful idiot for the farming community & inheritance tax

I don't understand what travelling from NI to Ireland to Britain would achieve?
