I'm doubtful Trump is an ideologue, unless the ideology is that Trump must be obeyed. But I think Vance and the "insiders" surrounding Trump are ideologues, less right wing than authoritarian, small government fanatics and not libertarian on socio/moral issues: not Goldwater Republicans.

People keep being surprised but it’s all documented through Project 2025. You are absolutely right about the ideological angle. Meanwhile too many journalists are trying to rationalise single incidents and statements. Revisit the blueprint
