The Norwegian Football Federation has taken lots of brave positions on the global stage in recent years, often standing up for basic democratic principles. Today was not a great day for democracy in Norwegian football.

Shockingly uninformed article! The decision is proof that democracy works in Norwegian football. This is not something only the top clubs should decide. All part of the Football community is a valid stakeholder in the descision.
In Norway do regular people not have a vote on corporate tax laws?
I live in Australia and over here we have specialist VAR officials; not on-field refs that rotate-in (that's also what FIFA do at tournaments)
So, you don't have the dynamic of a senior ref pressuring a less senior ref.
Also, it's a different skillset.
