And IMHO the best horror is about how people react to the situation in question. Their reaction shows who the real monsters are. This helps highlight the power of political subtext in horror even more.

Honestly, I wish a lot of horror fans understood this. Maybe I could go to a convention and actually enjoy myself again instead of getting dirty looks from attendees… and in at least one case, a “celebrity” guest.
