So your approach guaranteed his appointment, while her approach opened a possibility that a few R's would peel off after the hearing.
And no, objecting unanimous consent would have just led to a vote which would have delayed the proceedings by about a day.
Democrats cannot control recessing the senate (they are in the minority).
Her approach just got him in office faster.
