Fun fact: Greenland is closer to Denmark than to the USA. I've heard Magas now claiming we should take it because it's "right next to us and far from Europe." That is incorrect.
An offer of 2 trillion dollars would give every single Greenlander tens of millions of dollars. They would all be rich beyond their wildest dreams. Everybody has a price. p
For China, it would be a bargain. But they can't. US would invoke the Monroe Doctrine. Asia could finance an offer by the EU and Canada, with all parties guaranteed access to Greenland's rare earth elements.
But what is gained by consuming Greenland? They’re not hostile and they’re a sovereign nation. You gonna give them representation in congress with 10 more senators and 40 house members? Or just gonna bitch them out like Puerto Rico with no rights, just bills?
