And the scripted version of the final scene plays out a little differently, with Scully considering telling Doggett she's pregnant. I like that they cut that. It works better later in the season IMO.

One of the main reasons Roadrunners doesn’t make a lot into my rewatches is because of that uncomfortable audiovisual theatrics of Scully being implanted with the slug (def not because of it being scary but the SA connotations).

Also I def read the final Dogget/Scully scene as two teammates confronting the “know it all” one for goin solo and effing up. Also, establishing Dogget/Scully a contrast to Mulder/Scully dynamic, in which Scully barely ever confronts ditching/train jumping Mulder.

I’m with Jenn - I never liked the final scene in Roadrunners. But I’m not anti-Doggett in general (especially after 25 years!). It just struck me as paternalistic. Perhaps if the delivery had felt more empathetic and less like a reprimand to me it would have struck the chord they were aiming for.

I love the episode. But it is an odd scene. Both Mulder and Scully have gone off on their own before. So does Doggett. Later in the season. Granted the choices usually end in disaster.
