Think logical, in a few months they don't even have a job anymore, if there is no DOE, there is nobody who distributes federal funds to states for education. So no paycheck.
And i want those red states to crumble on all levels, i want them bankrupt. Sorry blue dots in those states.

I’m not sure about other states, but in Virginia, ~80% of public school funding comes from state, not federal. I don’t want them to shutter the DoE, this is disastrous, but teachers won’t necessarily be sent home (immediately).

The bigger impact this will have is the shuttering of certain programs within public schools, loss of FAFSA, and uncertainty for student loans. Colleges will be hurt more by this.

My wife graduates in May, she just signed her first teaching contract, and her career is up in the air right now. :/

I hope your wife keeps her contract. I really do.
But potentially losing 20% is 1/5 of the total state budget for education, let's make it 5% how will they cover that, the amount of students won't change.
And i agree on student loans, grants. They even stopped research programs on universities.

Ideally, states will see the writing on the wall and increase state funding for schools. If Trump want’s everything in the states hands, he can deal with the fallout of suffering, progressively dumber red states and higher educated, self sustaining blue states (what’s new). I think VA is doing this.

Yea, unfortunately the odds of these sociopaths having privatization of student loans lined up is high. Student loans will most likely be bought out or “gifted” to high yielding banks that these billionaires have high stakes in. I’m sure they’ll increase the punishment for defaulting aswell.
