Instead of following along with the use OF DEI, it would be more effective to say trump blames women and people of color for the crash. You can put (DEI) in parenthesis after women and people of color if you want. Be explicit

Trump's psychopathology forces him to deal with tragic events differently than sane people do.
He sees the crash as a possible direct threat to his image of superior leader. Unlike with COVID he cannot start with denying it happened, so he needs to divert the blame away from himself.
