If Cuomo waltzes back into office, which is likely, it will be because of Democratic incompetence in civic governance. You can’t ignore rising rents (rent control), rising perceptions of crime (bail reform), small business losses (congestion pricing), and open corruption of Democratic politicians.

Cuomo isn’t a Republican. Eric Adams arguably is. But there are no strong alternatives to Cuomo. Jumaane Williams is too unpopular, as is AOC. The City Council has repeatedly ignored and mismanaged key issues. If you don’t want Cuomo: 1) manage the city better and 2) build a credible bench.
