Tell me about it. I don’t enjoy playing Metal Gear Solid games, but somehow I own all of them because the trailers got me every single time. I still think the original MGSV trailer, before it had the title, is the greatest video game trailer ever made.

Yes! The Phantom Pain. I remember being really excited thinking it was something new, then people found all the clues and that sub-gamma “Metal Gear Solid V” logo.

I've been thinking about this trailer so much like how we have Solid Snake But Evil *but also* earlier in the trailer we follow him as a sympathetic character struggling with his demons, resenting the government for forcing people like him to do their dirty work.

So sure Evil Solid Snake is talking about American Gun Culture but in the context of the whole trailer I think Kojima's saying that the American attitude to guns is something the government endorses/takes advantage of to justify military spending.

I had read before that he edited some of the big ones (cos many have a distinctive style and I swear I've seen tweets of him saying something like that)

But cos of your comment I decided to google to double-check but only saw vague conflicting info so I could be wrong and my worldview shaken.
