What's worse, Nintendo attacks their community at every opportunity given. Then expect people to buy a $90 "physical" copy that only contains a small front loaded amount of the game. Requiring you to download the rest via online. It's gross.
No, a PS5 disc contains the actual game data which gets copied over to the SSD. The Switch cards don't contain any game data, just the license key, you'll need the internet to download the game.
Well if you buy the bundle-version it‘s only 40€ (510€ vs 470€), which makes this whole thing even weirder. Maybe they expect everyone to buy the bundle anyway, but in that case why sell the game by itself at such an insane price point?
Keep in mind the bundle just comes with a digital download code. It costs them nothing to produce and it's fourty bucks extra on the console's sale. And it'll probably get more people to buy the console because "geez, with how high the prices are I can't let this deal slip".
Oh, I'll be buying the bundle. Nintendo has figured this out, I'm sure.
The next step will be *finding* the bundle.
I'm sure I will need to follow some Twitter dropship accounts & then engage in hand-to-hand combat w some beleaguered stepdad in a Best Buy parking lot.
Nintendo finding ways to confound and enrage via its various announcements is nothing new. I am just amazed they have managed to find new and exciting ways to do it that still hit for an old timer like me.
They saw a port of Mario Kart 8 sell for $60 a decade after the original released and thought, "these idiots will buy it anyways". We'll see how it plays out. Though I'm not helping because I'm planning to buy the bundle.

You can't even buy a physical copy. £75 gets you a physical license key, which you use to download the game with.
120+aud is a big ask for Mario Kart.

Probably the right move economically, but still --- oof.
