Time Machine, War of the Worlds and Invisible Man are amongst my fav books - I’ve read the first two many times. His short stories are also well worth reading

Absolutely - timeless works.
I recall one of his short stories entitled ‘The Inexperienced Ghost’ - fabulous tale with an unnerving final scene.

I’ve got Food of the Gods and War in the Air to get to soon as well. Not read a bad story by him, altho Dr Moreau is prob my least fav (might have been young expectations tho)

Ah yes, Food of the Gods is another that I’d like to get to in time (and I’m curious as to whether this was one of the key works Brian Aldiss was referencing when he wrote his 1965 ‘homage’ ‘The Saliva Tree’)

Something to look out for is Christopher Priest's Space Machine. It acts as a sequel and bridge to both The Time Machine and War of the Worlds.

It truly stands the test of time. The comics adaptation (and especially the sequel series Scarlet Traces) by Ian Edginton and D'Israeli is strongly recommended.

Reading it is far better than any adaptation in film or tv, or musical.
Same for the Time Machine.
It’s more a story of humanity than the Martians. Read it in lockdown with a few other Wells classics.

I’d recommend The Island of Dr Moreau and The Sleeper Awakens, and The Invisible Man. I’ve read a few others, and have a few more in the pending bookcase.
