Canada needs to do the same, quickly, with other countries to end our dependence on the US. And let's not forget, drop those gouging inter-provincial trade barriers while you are at it. There should be NO provincial barriers. #cdnpoli #peipoli

Absolutely!! Much better partner. At least for the next while. But the question is if trump was reelected you can never trust your partner to not attack you. Have to move on.
Interprovincial trade barriers have some value.
I used to work in the drilling industry and a certain province had their government subsidizing manufacturing so other provinces couldn't compete on price for drilling products.
Very possibly the CAUSMX deal will be tossed. Canada needs to do a separate deal with MX just in case. We currently have 15 Trade deals covering 51 countries, the US has a whopping 14 Trade deals covering 15 countries - we are better situated.
Provincial barriers are draconian but my understanding is CETA is fairly broad. The bigger issue is energy exports other than the US needs infrastructure which doesn't exist yet.
Our trade deal with the EU (CETA) is only a few years old. This deal is older and probably needed to be updated. Nevertheless, we should be moving closer to the EU to diversify our economy. I saw some changes with CETA (more citrus from Spain in the stores).
Indonesia just joined BRICS. China is well on the path to being the next superpower, if that's not already the case. I think it's critical to strengthen our trade ties outside of the West, instead.
Interprovincial trade barriers? Way too complex for current crop of Premiers who can’t even come up with something simple, like a standard set of rules for driving. Why does every province have its version of a graduated license program? Start small than move onto other issues.
I opposed Mulroney’s original Free Trade Agreement because I said at the time we should remove the inter-provincial trade barriers first. And we still haven’t.

All G20 Countries need to get together and strengthen trade relations, screw the US.
