While the quality of life would drop even more (it would), if the main argument is the Canadian people’s livelihood would be suppressed even further under American oligarchs rather than Canadian oligarchs you might want to also work on a plan to elevate Canadian lives from the 40 year decline.
That’s a big problem when you have to weigh what new losses you would prefer to bring to the voting public while at the same time know none are going to better the standard of living.
A little societal brainwashing ‘that if the gov uses tax money to evolve the nation it’ll auto-fail’.
