He doesn't want it now because he would have to acknowledge that members of his team/party are guilty of election interference. If he becomes PM and has the clearance he can claim he didn't know. It's a win/win for PP.

So what that he had it before! He allowed it to lapse & has refused to get it again. The clearance doesn't tie his hands, the briefings do, which he can choose to skip. Either he is ignorant or hiding something. Considering he had it before, he knows the process, so I lean towards hiding something.
