“From the pockets of Mahedres and the cages of his minions, the hummingbird souls and the butterfly spirits were freed, and they alighted on corpses as if they were feeding on flowers.”
The previous depiction had a serenity belied by its shadow. This is a barely-constrained madness.
She is ruthlessly cutting off whatever separates us from awakening, so we become the One. Timeless now when formless turns into the form and the form turns formless.
I've had the pleasure to see a ton of your art, but this little hummingbird's gotta be my favorite! The mimicry, the mouth opening up below, the stunning COLORS... Aaaaa <3
This is glorious... Incredibly beautiful! For a relatively small piece, there's so much detail - the wing patterns, the totally-not-bat-esque being looming behind... And the eye borders! I LOVE eye symbolism, one of my favorite things ever.
Still struggling a bit with getting back into things so it's another comfortable motif for me. The first time I drew the Crimson-Bat-as-hummingbird was for Dark Side of the Moon some years back!
